the research is about mosquito repellent lotion out of waste cooking palm oil. Waste cooking palm oil is one of the problem that exist in Indonesia, especially Jakarta. Oil waste has so many dangerous substance that contain inside the oil. The purpose of the research is to reduce oil waste and utilize it. So we utilize the oil waste into a mosquito repellent lotion. And the lotion that made of oil waste may reduce the oil waste.

cooking palm oil is an oil that people usually use for daily frying need. But, cooking oil usage can not be used more than 3-4 times, because it can eliminate the vitamins that contain within the oil. In time oil waste will grow more and more. That’s why we want to find a way how to reduce oil waste.

The result of the research shows that waste cooking palm oil can be the main ingredient of the mosquito repellent lotion. We can conclude that waste cooking oil can be processed into a mosquito repellent lotion without any rancid smell. However, the lotion is still not feasible for daily use because the texture is still greasy and hard to absorb. We will do more specific test for the oil and the lotion, whether is it safety or not for our skin. And do more experiments for the better lotion texture. We’re also going to socialize our research to Jakarta local community and school.
